This Privacy Policy provides information, pursuant to Art. 13, 14 DSGVO, about the processing of personal data in connection with the website https://apisclient.com/ and the desktop application “Apis AI”.
2. Principle: Data Minimization
Apis AI is designed as a local desktop application. There is no central platform, no user accounts, and no mandatory communication with a server. Without your action, your chats, API keys, and settings do not leave your device. Neither the website nor the app uses cookies, tracking, or analytics services.
3. Website apisclient.com
3.1 Server Log Files
When you access the website, the web server we operate automatically processes technical access data transmitted by your browser: IP address, date and time of access, the resource requested, the amount of data transferred, the HTTP status code, and details about the browser/operating system used (user agent).
This processing serves to ensure the secure and stable operation of the website and to protect it against attacks and misuse (e.g., DDoS mitigation). The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO; our legitimate interest lies in the secure and functional operation of our offering. The log data is stored only briefly and then deleted or anonymized; it is not merged with other data sources.
3.2 Cookies, Analytics & External Content
The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics tools, and embeds no content from third-party providers (e.g., no tracking pixels, no external fonts or advertising networks). The fonts used on the website are delivered locally from our own server; no connection to servers of Google or other third parties takes place.
3.3 Downloads & APT Repository
When you download installation packages, the server log data described in section 3.1 is processed. Beyond that, we do not collect any data in connection with downloads.
4. Desktop Application “Apis AI”
4.1 Local Storage
All settings, API keys, chat histories, workflows, scripts, and run logs of the app are stored exclusively locally on your device — on Linux/macOS in the folder ~/.config/apis-ai and on Windows in the local user profile. This data is not transmitted to us or to third parties.
Your API keys are stored locally so that you do not have to re-enter them on every start. Treat this file like a password: access to your user account means access to the keys. Recommendation: enable system encryption and protect the file from third parties.
4.2 Transmission to Configured AI Providers
Apis AI is a client for local and cloud-based AI models. As soon as you configure a cloud provider (e.g., OpenRouter, Anthropic Claude, DeepSeek, Puter, or a self-configured OpenAI-compatible endpoint) and send a message, the content you enter (prompts and any attached files) is transmitted to the provider you selected for the purpose of generating a response.
The transmission takes place exclusively on your initiative and only to the provider you have selected. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a DSGVO (consent through the deliberate configuration and use of the respective provider) and/or Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO for the performance of your request. The respective provider's privacy policy applies to its processing; refer to it for information about storage, possible use for training, and retention periods. When using exclusively local models (e.g., Ollama), no transmission takes place.
4.3 MCP Servers, File System, and Shell Access
The app supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) as well as access to shared folders and an optional terminal sandbox. The connected MCP servers and shared resources are configured by you. Access to your file system or system takes place only if you enable the corresponding features and a model executes them as part of your request. If an MCP server runs on an external service, the processing there is subject to that service's privacy policy.
4.4 Update Check
If enabled, the app checks on startup whether a newer version is available. For this purpose, a simple GET request is sent to https://apisclient.com/version.json. As with any HTTP request, your IP address, a technical user agent (“ApisAI-Client/<Version>”), and a timestamp are processed. No personal content or identifiers are transmitted. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (legitimate interest in providing security and feature updates). The check can be disabled in the settings.
4.5 Local Log Files
For error analysis, the app maintains local log files in the folder ~/.config/apis-ai/logs. These serve technical diagnostics and generally do not contain chat content. They do not leave your device.
5. Storage Duration
Data stored locally by the app remains on your device until you delete it yourself (deleting the folder ~/.config/apis-ai or the corresponding subfolders) or uninstall the app. Server log files are automatically deleted or anonymized after a short time.
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights toward us regarding the personal data concerning you:
- Right of access (Art. 15 DSGVO),
- Right to rectification (Art. 16 DSGVO),
- Right to erasure (Art. 17 DSGVO),
- Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 DSGVO),
- Right to data portability (Art. 20 DSGVO),
- Right to object to processing (Art. 21 DSGVO),
- Right to withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7 Abs. 3 DSGVO).
To exercise your rights, an email to info@apisclient.com is sufficient.
In addition, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 DSGVO). The competent authority is in particular the one responsible for our registered office, the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (P.O. Box 3163, 65021 Wiesbaden).
7. Currency of This Policy
This Privacy Policy is amended as needed to adapt it to changed legal or technical circumstances. The version published here applies in each case.
